Gable Steveson will no longer be opening the main card of UFC 329 next month.
Steveson is still set to face Elisha Ellison in his highly-anticipated Octagon debut at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 11.
With a gold medal in wrestling at the 2020 Olympic games under his belt, Steveson has been tipped to achieve huge success since he made the transition to MMA.
While having him open the main card of one of the biggest events of the year made a lot of sense, the UFC has changed their plans.

King Green vs Terrance McKinney replaces Gable Steveson’s debut as UFC 329 main card opener
Before Manel Kape stopped Kyoji Horiguchi in the main event of UFC Vegas 119, the bout order for the UFC 329 main card was updated via the broadcast.
The biggest change from the previously announced line-up for the event that features the return of Conor McGregor is that Gable Steveson’s Octagon debut will no longer be opening the main card on July 11.
In its place will be the matchup that was reported earlier this month between King Green and Terrance McKinney.
The two lightweights are both known for having some of the most fan-friendly styles on the roster, giving the main card a strong chance of opening with a bang.
As for Steveson, it wasn’t revealed exactly where his fight with Elisha Ellison has been moved to, other than that it’s now on the prelims.
It would be surprising if this bout dropped any lower than the featured prelim slot due to the hype surrounding the American heavyweight’s debut.
In March, the UFC brought fights to CBS for the first time when airing a portion of UFC 326 simultaneously on CBS and Paramount+.
Putting Steveson in one of those slots would seem to be a total no-brainer for the promotion.
