“I really wish @RegisP124 Aint retire Yet That a another bum Devin fought That y’all hyped up as if he did sum crazy In the sport I would of Beat the dog shit out of Regis same how I did Kamboses dude a cold Bum always was,” wrote Hitchins.

The comments appeared to be directed as much at Haney’s resume as they were at Prograis himself. Hitchins argued that fans gave Haney too much credit for defeating Prograis in December 2023, viewing the former WBC and WBA champion as an overrated opponent.

The two fighters have exchanged words in the past. Earlier this year, Prograis criticized Hitchins after he withdrew from his scheduled February 21, 2026, title defense against Oscar Duarte due to illness on fight day.

Hitchins also referenced his own victory over George Kambosos Jr., whom he stopped in the eighth round in June 2025. Haney defeated Kambosos twice by unanimous decision during his undisputed lightweight title run.

Prograis retired in April following his decision loss to Conor Benn. While defeated, many fans viewed the performance more favorably than his previous loss to Jack Catterall, with some believing his stock rose despite the setback.

The timing of Hitchins’ comments was notable. Three days earlier, Prograis revealed on social media that he is dealing with a large IRS bill, a divorce, and an ongoing lawsuit.

    Divorce
    Going through a lawsuit
Money comes and goes but PEACE is priceless

    — Rougarou (@RPrograis) June 18, 2026

Hitchins offered no explanation for bringing Prograis back into the conversation. Still, the retired former champion remains a topic of discussion just two months after stepping away from the sport.
